The modern human is not merely Homo sapiens anymore; s/he is evolving into a net-human—a being deeply embedded in a multi-sensory digital web of interactions, devices, deadlines, and decisions. With this evolution comes a lifestyle where multi-tasking is default, and multiple-tension is constant. This chapter explores how this ‘net-human’ identity reflects an algorithmic artificial life, and how its rhythms, breakdowns, and breakthroughs are subtly shaping our collective future.

 

II. Defining the ‘New-Net-Human’

A new-net-human is:

  • Always plugged-in, rarely off-grid.
  • Simultaneously engaged in multiple layers of social, cognitive, and algorithmic interaction.
  • Partly human, partly programmed—trained to act with efficiency while yearning for authenticity.
  • Emotionally hybrid, balancing digital validation with existential disorientation.

This being is not fictional. It is you, me, and millions who live amidst notifications, data streams, cloud services, mental tabs, and social loops.


III. Multi-Tasking and Its Inner Mechanics

In this altered cognitive terrain, multi-tasking isn’t just switching tasks—it’s a full-blown neurological juggling act, shaped by:

  • Algorithmic time compression (do more in less time).
  • Split-attention design (UI/UX made to fragment focus).
  • Sensory overload (constant video, audio, text).
  • Subconscious automation (decision-making passed onto systems).

This is not multitasking in the old sense (writing a letter while drinking tea), but a compound state of being partially-present in 5 realities at once: work chat, Instagram scroll, Zoom call, food delivery, inner monologue.

C. At the Evolutionary Level

  • We are evolving into modular selves—split across platforms.
  • Memory and intuition weaken; external algorithms replace inner algorithm.
  • The species begins mirroring synthetic patterns, setting the stage for conscious code-based existence.

The new-net-human is not doomed to algorithmic collapse. The solution is not to reject the system but to re-code oneself consciously.

Create digital rituals for un-plugging, re-focusing, and breathing deeply into presence. This can be algorithmic too—design for silence.

2.    Meta-Multitasking
Instead of blind multitasking, apply meta-awareness—know which tasks deserve fragmentation and which require sanctity.

Recognize the multi-tension grid in daily life. Map out which tensions are externally imposed vs. internally nurtured.

4.    Slow-code Thinking
Integrate ancient patterns of mindfulness, symbolic thought, and sacred time into the architecture of attention.

5.    Self as Algorithm, Self Beyond Algorithm
Accept that you’re a programmable being—but know also that you are more than any program. The inner consciousness is not coded—it is the coder.
